NOVEC is seeking a Business Applications Analyst to support the Electric Systems Operations Division. The position is responsible for conducting business and cost-benefit analysis and business process reviews, administration of client-server software applications, relational databases, and table structures, end-user support including training and troubleshooting, project management, and workflow modeling. The ideal candidate will have experience with PowerBI and advanced MS Excel skills.
Overview of Role:
Supports organizational objectives by identifying opportunities to improve business processes through applying and integrating software technology and supporting, maintaining, and testing software applications. Monitors data integrity of NOVEC software systems. Acts as a point of contact for employees and departments who utilize the system and/or data from the system. Collects and prioritizes division information requirements and develops plans and activities that will result in the automation of these requirements.
Job Duties:
Reviews user requests for system modifications, processes improvements, and report requirements, and recommends the best solution for achieving desired results in consultation with the outsourced IT vendor technical services. Assists with developing specialized reports. Meets the established requirements documented for functionality, interfaces, and reports.
Coordinates and conducts business process reviews to capture the current state of the process, identify problems, develop and evaluate solutions, and apply new processes to software systems.
Understands and manages data integrity of their application and the relationship of data with all corporate applications
Has the ability to become a ‘super user’ of the business application to serve as a liaison between the business users and IT staff.
Prepares documentation related to end-user use of the system. The outsourced IT vendor will maintain documentation for the outsourced IT vendor‘s procedures.
Conducts initial system troubleshooting and recommends resolution to end-user and forwards technical resolution issues to the outsourced IT vendor.
Conducts software orientation workshops and seminars and coordinates development, training, and communication needs for employees.
Writes and maintains NOVEC software systems documentation and provides reference materials and support/help desk to end-users.
Configures, updates, and edits system administration tables to support process requirements, maintain data integrity, and meet users' needs.
Conducts initial system troubleshooting and recommends resolution to end-user and forwards technical resolutions to the outsourced IT vendor.
Develops business cases for new software releases and upgrades.
Tests upgrade of software modifications; and coordinate the installation of new releases to end-users with the outsourced IT vendor, ensuring compatibility with all corporate applications.
Works continually towards self-development to stay current on system operations, information management software, and computer science-related procedures and practices.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. Business, IT or Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance) or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
One to two years of related experience and/or training are required, including business analysis, administration of client-server software applications, relational databases, table structures, end-user support, training, troubleshooting, project management, cost-benefit analysis, conducting business process reviews, and workflow modeling.
Experience with data visualization tools and Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Demonstrated ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
Demonstrated knowledge of all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and mathematical skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with general computer operation and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of relational databases, table structures, querying functionality, report writing; software troubleshooting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels within the organization.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
Demonstrated business and technical writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to research and understand issues, identify and solves problems, and think analytically and logically.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology to meet business needs.
