We are currently seeking a Meter Technician who will be responsible for the following.
Assure accurate, reliable electric measurement and control equipment used in billing, measuring, monitoring, and controlling the Cooperative’s electric system. Perform a variety of skilled manual operations following standard procedures to read, disassemble, clean, trouble shoot, replace, repair, calibrate, and program single phase watt-hour meters and Load Management Switches. Provide exceptional customer service to customers picking up meter bases. Perform work assignments in compliance with NOVEC rules and regulations as well as under OSHA and VOSHA guidelines.
Essential Job Functions will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform inventory control duties as assigned. Become familiar with equipment, issuance procedures, and records.
Test and calibrate 1 phase and network meters including cleaning, inspection, and proper record keeping.
Develop a working knowledge of meter programming software and applications.
Assist other NOVEC personnel under qualified supervision in restoring power during power outages and reading local routes.
Test program, repair and maintain proper records of load management switches.
Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or recognized equivalent is required with specialized/technical training in the areas of electronics/electrical preferred. An Associate’s degree in electronics/electrical engineering is desired.
No previous experience is required. A minimum of 1 year of related metering experience is desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to organize and execute delegated work under minimum supervision.
Knowledge of and the ability to read and relate theoretical concepts and instructions in documents, drawings, and specifications to practical application.
Ability to utilize a computer and diverse computer software as required.
Knowledge of and the ability to learn and understand how to build various programs in multiple metering software applications.
Ability to work independently or in a team setting and collaborate with other departments/divisions as necessary.
Ability to prioritize day-to-day tasks and projects to meet specified deadlines.
Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to utilize and apply specified competencies for this position as required.
