REPORTS TO: Parents As Teachers Team Lead
SUMMARY: The Parents As Teachers (PAT) Parent Educator will administer the PAT home visiting program for A Child’s Place PA. The Parent Educator will be responsible for coordinating individual home visits and group training sessions, promoting the program and recruiting parent/guardian participants. The Parent Educator will have an understanding of family systems, basic child development and discipline techniques, and community resources; possess an ability to reach out to participants and create a relationship of mutual trust; and have strong social skills and a compassionate personality. The ideal candidate will be confident making organizational relationships with community leaders, in order to ensure integration into the community and promoting active recruitment efforts by partnering with other organizations. At times, this position requires the flexibility of meeting with clients, parents, and community partners during evenings and weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Attend PAT training and certification sessions
· Schedule and lead required, face-to-face, individual, family and group sessions, as directed by the PAT model
· Maintain participant records and reports through the approved database
· Complete pre/post family assessments
· Track program outcomes
· Identify family needs and provide community resources to participants
· Collaborate with other staff, parents, and community stakeholders to promote the program
· Observe and understand parent behavior and report suspicions of neglect, abuse, etc.
· Ensure fidelity to the PAT curriculum though supervision and peer review with other staff members
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 5 years of demonstrated experience in the field of human services, education, or social work required;
· High school diploma required with Associate’s Degree or some college credits preferred.
· Demonstrated experience with In-Home Service Provision
· Experience recruiting and promoting programs
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Well-organized and committed
· Creative and energetic
· Must have a valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle
Intermediate Computer/Technology skills
Job Type: Full-time
