ACORE Vice President, CommunicationsPosition Title : Vice President, CommunicationsDepartment : CommunicationsReports to : President and Chief Executive OfficerPosition Description : The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is seeking a strategic thinker and world-class communicator to lead its communications department as its next Vice President of Communications. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, this person will oversee the organization’s internal and external communications, media relations, digital and social media efforts, and brand management.The Vice President of Communications will develop a communications strategy that positions ACORE as a leading voice and thought leader on cross-cutting energy issues while ensuring quality messaging across all communications channels. This position is based in Washington, D.C. ACORE has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework. The salary for this position is between $170,000-$185,000.Key Job Duties : Develop, implement, and routinely evaluate ACORE’s overall communications strategy.Lead the creation of content for core member and external communications products, including press releases / statements, talking points, newsletters, and annual reports.Serve as a spokesperson and primary point of contact for press.Conduct media on-air interviews and serve as “host” of video content similar to podcasts.Manage ACORE’s press list and media relationships, developing outreach strategies to broaden ACORE’s reach and improve the visibility of ACORE’s work products and staff expertise.Develop letters to the editor and op-eds for placement in close coordination with the senior management team.Ensure anyone speaking on-the-record is appropriately prepped.Provide editing support and messaging guidance across the organization.Develop strategies to achieve maximum earned and social media impact.Ensure that all content produced by ACORE aligns with the organization’s voice and brand.Supervise the communications team members and external communications contractors.Oversee management of the ACORE.org website and social media channels, including drafting content and providing strategic counsel for the President’s channels.Engage and forge positive working relationships with ACORE members, leaders in the field, and allied groups.Oversee the development and tracking of communications key performance indicators.Required skills / Knowledge : Accomplished professional with 10 years of experience in a senior communications role, ideally at a mission-driven nonprofit, trade association, or business.Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related discipline.Previous supervisory experience.Knowledge of the clean energy industry, including an understanding of industry trends, prominent companies, technologies, finance, and policy issues.Polished speaker with excellent oral and written communication skills.Proven ability to translate complex information into clean, concise, and engaging copy.Demonstrated skills and experience with earned, owned, shared, and paid media.Familiarity with a broad suite of communications tools, including electronic publishing platforms, website and marketing email management software, and social media monitoring and analytics applications.Demonstrated copy editing experience and strong attention to detail.Highly collaborative style.Experience developing and implementing communications strategies.Self-starter who can work independently and enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.Experience managing budgets and vendors.Non-Discrimination : ACORE is committed to workplace diversity and inclusion.
