ADA Traffic Control is happy to announce we are searching for an Assistant Field Supervisor for New York. ADA Traffic Control, LTD is a family owned and operated business throughout New England. ADA is the leading traffic control company providing traffic control personnel for construction and utility work zones throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and New York. We also offer a very busy Sales and Rentals business and a Security division. ADA is a rapidly growing business and is an exciting and rewarding company to work for. ADA is currently seeking a Field Supervisor to manage, direct, provide oversight, and ensure compliance.
The primary function of an Assistant Field Supervisor is supporting the operations of the company and Field Supervisors with some direct supervision of Crew Leaders, Crew Members, Traffic Coordinators, road trainers, and Laborers. This job will be on the road each day routinely visiting personnel assigned to construction and utility job sites in assigned areas. The Assistant Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Manager of ADA but works hand in hand with Field Supervisors and other Management positions as well as our dispatch team on a daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect equipment from employees with 24hrs of separation
- Swap equipment as deemed necessary due to damage, not being used, etc
- Deliver Equipment to job sites and personnel
- Fill in when needed including but not limited to flagging, laboring, driving trucks, etc
- Oversee flagging employees to insure they are performing their duties in compliance with the rules and regulations set forth in the Employee Manual, Safety Manual, Dept of Transportation, and OSHA Standards.
- Correct employees whom you observe performing their duties incorrectly or unsafe by demonstrating correct methods and report situation to Field Supervisor and Operations Manager
- Check flagging jobs and employees as needed
- Introduce yourself to new flagging employees within 1 week of employment
- Address and investigate all issues you observe or are brought to your attention in a quick and efficient manner after conferring with HR and Field Supervisors
- Organize weekly safety tailgate toolbox talks periodically
- Attend regular meetings and trainings

- Always maintain a professional attitude, demeanor, and appearance
- Maintain a professional demeanor when addressing all fellow employees, general contractor’s representatives, state engineers, and the general public
- Check in each morning with dispatch and Director of Operations by 7am
- Develop a plan for the day but stay flexible
- Filing reports using electronic means
- Ensure you always have required equipment with you
- Never exit your vehicle without a class 3 vest on
- Have a ONE TEAM approach everyday helping other members of management as much as possible
- Fill out all forms completely and professionally
- Company vehicle must be kept clean inside and out at all times - it will be inspected
- Always lead by example
- Treat every employee with respect, fairness, and empathy
- Educate everyday - grow leaders, make your team successful
- Have water and Gatorade in a cooler with ice every hot day
- Follow purchase policy accordingly
- Submit receipts on time monthly
Required Skills:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity at all times
- Strong work ethic and regular attendance
- Required to drive for long periods
- Ability to read and understand a traffic control plan
- Familiar with MUTCD
- Have the keen sense to observe an unsafe situation and mitigate the issue immediately before an employee is put in danger
- Ability to tow a trailer, back up successfully with trailer, and set up message board
- Must be able to work in fast moving traffic
- Excellent follow-through on all projects
- Able to resolve issues independently and with good judgment.
- Computer and internet skills
- Must have high initiative, strong work ethic, good communication and analytical skills.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a fast- paced environment.
- Must be available to meet with second and third shift employees, as needed, some nights and weekends will be required
- To be successful, the Supervisor must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have a valid driver license with no significant violations in the past 3 years
- Must have ability to acquire DOT physical and Med card
- Successfully pass background check and drug test
- Must be willing to accept seasonal layoff if it’s required
Experience/Other:
- Minimum of 1 year of traffic control and/or road work zone experience required
- Management experience a plus
- ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor and Traffic Control Technician certifications preferred.
- OSHA 10, 30, 40 certifications preferred.
- Must have clean criminal background check and clean 5 year MVR check
- Must reside in area of need currently or plan to reside in these areas within 90 days of accepting offer
