About the Role:

The Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in supporting our PR & Partnerships Lead to drive initiatives in public relations, brand partnerships, and branded merchandise production. This role involves building & maintaining media relationships, crafting compelling content for press opportunities, and conducting editorial outreach to enhance brand visibility. Additionally, the coordinator will oversee the Backroads gear program, collaborating with vendors to develop and distribute branded merchandise that supports company initiatives. This unique, multifaceted role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, can juggle diverse projects with ease, and takes pride in delivering high-quality results.

What You’ll be Doing: 

You’ll play a pivotal role across public relations, brand partnerships, and branded gear. Additionally, you’ll contribute to special projects that elevate our marketing efforts and enhance our brand visibility. 

Public Relations 

  • You'll help build and nurture relationships with industry contacts, from travel and lifestyle media to business and consumer outlets. 
  • You'll research and pitch editorial stories, podcasts, and awards opportunities to spotlight Backroads and its leadership. 
  • You'll draft press releases on company milestones, new trips, and unique offerings. 
  • You'll respond to media inquiries, fact-check articles, and collaborate with internal teams to provide imagery and materials. 
  • You'll maintain and grow our editorial database while monitoring press coverage, sharing insights with the team, and updating office employees on company news. 

Branded Gear 

  • You'll manage and elevate the Backroads gear program, from sourcing standout items to ensuring timely distribution. 
  • You'll work closely with vendors to create high-quality swag for staff, guests, and BEST Club loyalty club members—owning the process from concept to delivery. 
  • You'll oversee the BEST Club program, including updates and vendor outreach for donated giveaway items. 
  • You'll track progress across multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met and budgets are maintained. 
  • You'll coordinate reorders and collaborate across departments to ensure smooth distribution logistics. 

What You'll Need to be Successful:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public relations, project coordination, or a related role (experience in branded gear is a plus).  
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Excel ;
  • Intermediate experience with Jira, Confluence, and GA4 are a plus. 
  • A self-starter mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and prioritization skills. 
  • Enthusiasm for being part of a dynamic, adventurous team. 

Work Environment:

  • Berkeley, CA
  • On site, 4 days in the office
