Overview
This position performs simple fabrication tasks within assigned area. Incumbent works with clearly defined, established instructions, including parts finishing work, hand deburr, parts cleaning, parts routing, basic drill and tap work, masking and/or racking parts to be painted, and operating various machines/equipment in the assigned area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates machines/equipment in area as assigned.
- Sets up machines/equipment in area as assigned.
- Follows instructions.
- Inspects assigned work.
- Maintains a neat and organized work station.
- Completes paperwork such as timecards, production order checklists, receipt notes, routing sheets, etc.
- Acquires essential tools within specified time period. (Lists provided by area Supervisor.)
- Routes parts using material handling equipment.
- Achieves and maintains quality and productivity standards.
- Follows safety guidelines and must not pose a risk to self or others. Is expected to identify potential hazards and notify Unit Specialist or Supervisor.
- Makes recommendations for improvement.
- Actively participates in A-dec Business Unit meetings.
- Maintains acceptable dependability level.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated manual dexterity required.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of ISO procedures.
- Must acquire skill in use of measuring tools to inspect most assigned work within 30 days. (Measuring tools may include micrometers, gauges or special equipment as required.)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate work information effectively.
- Must acquire skill to interpret job-related blueprints and production order checklists to standards within 60 days.
- Must acquire skill to effectively use parts handling equipment within 90 days.
- Must acquire skill to identify most common tooling types within 30 days.
- Must acquire skill to identify most common material types within 30 days.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic shop math calculations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
