HPC(Homemaker/Personal Care) DSP(Direct Service Providers)
- Homemaker/Personal Care, often called HPC, supports a person to be more independent while meeting their daily living needs. Direct service providers help people with household chores and personal care, including things like
- getting dressed and keeping clean,
- making food,
- managing money to pay household bills,
- cleaning and doing laundry,
- getting out and being a part of the community,
- and helping people to get to medical and dental appointments or other health care services.
HPC also includes support that improves a person’s ability to express their opinions and choices.
Summary
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will be essential in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Reporting to a team leader or supervisor, your core responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, patient observation, and ensuring a safe and clean environment. Your premium skills in first aid, group home care, and assisted living will enhance the quality of life for those you serve. By leveraging your relevant experience in long-term care and social work, you will help foster independence and promote well-being in the community.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in caregiving and patient care
- Strong skills in patient observation and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Familiarity with home and community care settings, including group homes and assisted living environments
- Background in social work or long-term care preferred
- Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients
- First aid and CPR certified applicants is required.
- Med-certified also required.
- RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL APPLICANTS.
- Experience working with Developmentally disabled individuals is helpful, but not required.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with co-workers, clients, family members, visitors, general public and government agencies/personnel.
- Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
- must be able to enroll in Ohio Attorney General's retained applicant fingerprint database after the hiring process is complete(RAPBACK)
- Must at least hold a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Be able to read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Must have current Eight-Hour Provider Training Certification.
