A. Duda & Sons, Inc. has an opening for an hourly paid Accounting Assistant at the corporate office in Oviedo, FL.
The Accounting Assistant will work as part of the Accounts Payable team, researching issues with accounts payable transactions and generating journals to correct; vendor statement reconciliation, bank statement reconciliation, assisting with vendor invoices, and various other research for transactional issues as directed by the Accounts Payable Supervisor. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with other team members and as such is expected to be punctual and in attendance daily with the exception of planned time off. This role requires independent analytical thinking and the ability to escalate specific questions to the appropriate role. Work hours are in office Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm (generally.) Overtime may be required.

The Accounting Assistant duties include the following:
- Communicate effectively with vendors, internal personnel, and team members
- Review and approve vendor invoices in our systems, review purchase orders for appropriate documentation and post for payment
- Reconcile bank statements and creating corrections/reclass general ledgers
- Research and void checks, create and mail unclaimed property letters, generate credit invoice journals for AP Supervisor, and generate check reversals for lost checks to reissue payments
- Review travel expense reimbursements transactions for daily coding, descriptions, receipts, and compliance with company policies, as well as generating a General Journal weekly to record travel expenses and upload statements to system
- Generate purchase order invoices, and a payment journal for internal product transfer orders
- Collaborate with Accounts Receivable department on tasks such as vendor refunds
- Assist with compiling information for auditors during end of year audit
- Associate Degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounts payable experience.
- Must be proficient in debits and credits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
