Superintendent

POSITION SUMMARY

The Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating all construction activities at the job site. This position ensures that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and jurisdictional requirements. The Onsite Superintendent is responsible for maintaining an organized and clean job site, managing materials and equipment, scheduling inspections, and communicating effectively with the Construction Manager, Project Manager, Subcontractors, and city authorities to ensure project success.

OBJECTIVES

• Coordinate and supervise all construction activities at the job site.
• Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with project plans and specifications.
• Maintain and/or communicate the construction schedule progress or delays with the Construction Manager.
• Identify and proactively solve problems that may affect the project timeline.
• Effectively communicate and coordinate subcontractors
• Maintain an organized and clean job site to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
• Keep track of all materials and equipment delivered to the job site.
• Ensure onsite storage facilities are clean and organized.
• Familiarize yourself with the location of materials and equipment within the onsite storage facilities.
• Proactively educate yourself on all city required inspections ensuring that they are scheduled as required.
• Familiarize yourself with each city’s inspection process (i.e., online portal, or schedule by phone)

COMPETENCIES

• Comprehensive knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment in commercial electrical construction, repair, and maintenance.
• Thorough and working knowledge of National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately. Skills in Excel Spreadsheets for use in financial reporting and analysis
• Proven experience in effectively managing and coordinating onsite construction activities.
• Strong organizational skills to oversee multiple tasks, schedules, and subcontractors.
• Ability to enforce safety protocols and ensure a secure and compliant work environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to ensuring that construction work meets or exceeds quality standards.
• Understand and provide oral and written instructions accurately, and under adverse conditions.
• Make effective and supportable personnel decisions, evaluate and reward successful performance, discipline constructively, and handle employer/employee problems and grievances.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience in supervision, management, or people leadership.
• Basic understanding of construction plans and specifications.
• Problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to enforce them effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic ability to evaluate and manage construction personnel.
• Ability to utilize construction reporting tools.
• Must work in all temperatures with excessive noise from machines and other equipment.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (Required)
• Journeyman’s License (Strongly Recommended)
• OSHA 10 Certification (Preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods of time standing, speaking, walking, and/or sitting at a computer
• This position will require travel: up to 20%
