What are the responsibilities and job description for the VDC Engineer position at A.G. KUNZ LLC?
KUNZ is a world leader in model-based design, engineering, and construction management for complex capital projects such as data centers, utility infrastructure, healthcare, and mission-critical facilities. We provide services, products, and technology to support systematic project delivery at global scale.
As a VDC Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting building information models. Your role focuses on applying a structured product and process architecture to those models—organizing design elements into coherent systems, assigning consistent parameters, and ensuring each component is tagged to support quantity takeoff and analytics. You will shape and structure existing model content so that it can be used more effectively for construction planning, scope alignment, and program-level analysis.
You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to define consistent tagging strategies, implement metadata structures, and extract quantities and attributes that feed into dashboards and other visual tools. The role requires strong attention to detail, an intuitive understanding of how models should be organized, and the ability to use Revit not only as a design platform, but as a data environment.
An ideal candidate has a degree in architecture, civil engineering, or a related field, and experience working within large Revit model sets and the Autodesk Construction Cloud. You should be confident navigating complex design models, applying shared parameters, and using model views and schedules to check and organize embedded information. Familiarity with structured modeling workflows and interest in how models support construction execution are key. Additional skills in Excel, Sheets, and lightweight dashboarding tools are helpful. Knowledge of Dynamo or Python is a plus.
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes employer-subsidized healthcare, vision, and dental insurance. Full time employment includes paid time off and a 401(k) retirement program. KUNZ is committed to the long-term growth of our team members, providing support for career advancement through licensure, professional development, and continuing education opportunities.
