The Community Living Support Specialist (CLSS) provides individualized, person-centered support to service recipients, focusing on fostering independence, community integration, and life skill development. This role combines responsibilities in
Independent Living Skills Training (ILST), Community Integration and Support Services (CISS), and Direct Support Professional (DSP) work to empower individuals to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
1. Independent Living Skills Training (ILST)
- Teach and support service recipients in developing daily living skills such as budgeting, meal preparation, household maintenance, and personal care.
- Develop and implement individualized skill development plans based on the service recipient’s goals and preferences.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to promote successful outcomes.
2. Community Integration and Support Services (CISS)
- Assist service recipients in accessing and participating in community activities, services, and programs to promote social inclusion.
- Encourage and support individuals in building natural supports and meaningful community relationships.
- Provide transportation or travel training as needed to facilitate community engagement.
3. Direct Support Professional (DSP) Responsibilities
- Offer direct care and support to service recipients in a variety of settings, ensuring health, safety, and overall well-being.
- Support individuals in achieving person-centered goals, including employment, education, and recreational activities.
- Document and report progress, changes, and any incidents in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with service recipients, families, and other team members to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of service recipients within the organization and in the community.
- Attend and participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures related to disability services.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in providing direct support services, independent living skills training, or community integration services preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to person-centered practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficiency in documenting services and tracking progress in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Work Schedule
- Part Time,10-20 Hours a week, Flexible schedule to meet the needs of service recipients, including evenings and weekends
Salary Range
- Competitive and based on experience.
