POSITION: Fiber Foreman

PAY RANGE: 41-48/hour

As a Fiber Foreman, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cables and networks. Your main functions include quality and safe installation, performing network tests, troubleshooting connectivity issues, fiber splicing and other technical job duties.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and supervise a crew of fiber technicians to ensure efficient and high-quality work.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance to team members on installation, maintenance, and repair projects.
- Train and mentor crew members to enhance their skills and productivity.
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Review project specifications, blueprints, and work orders to plan and schedule activities.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure timely execution of projects.
- Identify and address potential issues, delays, or resource needs proactively.
Installation and Maintenance Oversight:
- Oversee the installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, technical specifications, and industry best practices.
- Perform quality checks to verify the accuracy and integrity of the work performed.
Safety Compliance:
- Enforce all safety protocols and conduct regular safety briefings with the crew.
- Inspect work sites for hazards and ensure that all crew members use appropriate protective equipment.
- Address and report any accidents or safety concerns promptly.
Equipment and Materials Management:
- Ensure that all tools, equipment, and vehicles are properly maintained and ready for use.
- Manage inventory of materials and supplies, ensuring timely procurement and replenishment.
- Track equipment usage and maintain accurate records.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of work completed, including splice diagrams, test results, and project timelines.
- Prepare and submit daily or weekly progress reports to management.
- Document any changes to project plans and communicate them effectively to management.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on-site, addressing concerns and providing updates.
- Ensure that customer satisfaction is achieved by delivering high-quality services.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
- Troubleshoot complex fiber optic network issues and implement effective solutions.
- Make on-site decisions to resolve challenges, ensuring project deadlines are met.
Adherence to Standards:
- Ensure compliance with local codes, industry regulations, and company policies.
- Stay updated on new technologies, tools, and best practices in fiber optic installation and maintenance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be knowledgeable on Fiber installation site builds.
- Valid Driver's License and clean MVR required.
- Up to date Industry certifications.
- OSHA 10
- ICP/OSP Training (inside plant, outside plant)
- First-aid/CPR/bloodborne pathogen
- Hazard Awareness
- Bucket Truck Training
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb utility poles and other tall structures, with a load of up to 75 pounds while working at altitudes of 50 feet.
- Ability to lift and carry materials that weigh up to 75 pounds for 8 hours per work day.
- Must be able to work at heights from an aerial work platform (AWP) such as man-lifts, boom trucks and other approved equipment.
- Ability to identify all colors associated with telecommunications cable and equipment indicator lights.
- Ability to connect and disconnect various sizes and types of electronic connectors
- Ability to push and pull materials and equipment for extended periods of time.
- Perform repetitive movements for extended periods of time.
- Ability to drive long distances on and off road.
- Ability to perform these duties in all weather conditions and climates including heat, cold, rain, etc.
- Ability to work in remote and challenging locations and environments.
- Position requires a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
