Job Description
An enthusiastic and talented educator, the Middle School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for teaching and inspiring students to develop a deep appreciation for the power of mathematical ideas and concepts. At every level, this educator invites students into the joys and responsibilities of analytical thinking and problem solving as they develop strong skills in applying mathematical techniques to questioning, analysis, and discovery. With a passion for working with and inspiring Middle School students, this skilled teacher has experience teaching courses ranging from sixth grade mathematics through Honors Algebra and Geometry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate meaningful, rigorous, level-appropriate instruction
- Collaborate with Mathematics Department members to enhance and create a variety of core and elective courses that challenge and inspire students to think independently, creatively, and critically
- Mentor and support students as they strive to become strong critical thinkers and problem solvers
- Ignite a passion for learning among Middle School students, sponsoring clubs and related activities
- Serve as an advisor to a group of eight to ten students, supporting and encouraging their personal and academic growth
- Embrace the school's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and continually evaluate curriculum and pedagogy to reflect this commitment
- Foster positive relationships among parents, students, and fellow teachers
- Dedicate themselves to our core principles of character, educational vigor, diversity, and community
- Demonstrate a desire for constant professional and personal growth by regularly participating in and seeking out professional learning opportunities
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education is required; A Masters degree is preferred.
- Ideal candidates will have at least three to five years of experience as a mathematics teacher.
- Candidates must have exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven success working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and school leaders is critical.
