Position Summary
The Plumbing Manager represents Wind River Environmental, internally and externally, in a positive, efficient, and professional manner. Our primary services include residential and commercial drain line replacements, water heater replacements, commercial grease trap replacements, and daily service repairs including replacements of plumbing equipment. The Plumbing Manager leads staff members who install, repair and maintain plumbing in both residential and commercial buildings.
This manager routinely works directly with service technicians, dispatch personnel and other managers to ensure customer satisfaction while meeting departmental goals and objectives. Responsible for the overall direction and guidance of the Plumbing Department, to increase the effectiveness and efficiency, and to maximize profits within the Region. Manages the safety and overall performance of all work sites and related associates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs and provides technical support for technicians to meet service demands and customers' expectations. Actively works to support and lead plumbing department with daily interaction promoting teamwork, productivity and safety.
- Develops and improves operational efficiencies either directly or indirectly within plumbing department and branch operations
- Recruits, interviews, hires and trains technicians as required to meet workload demands, and company or customer expectations and requirements. Reviews technician's work to ensure quality work meets established standards.
- Consistently produces quotations that are professional in appearance, timely in submission, achievable in timeline and profitable to Wind River Environmental.
- Develop and maintain training programs to ensure cross-training and increased skill levels of service technicians. Conducts group and one-on-one meetings with technicians as required for training, evaluation and general communication; participates and/or conducts regularly scheduled departmental safety/informational meetings
- Ensures a safe and healthy work environment is maintained at all times and all personnel are trained in operational safety policies, procedures and requirements.
- Conducts performance appraisals, counsels, and disciplines as needed to ensure optimum performance of each employee.
- Stays abreast of industry specific regulatory issues and ensures Wind River Environmental Services remains on the cutting edge of product offerings and customer service.
- Assumes responsibility for plumbing P&L through complete analysis, financial review and ownership of all controllable line items detailed within.
- Confers with sales associates to review revenue trends and forecast related staffing and equipment needs.
- Committed to professional and profitable quoting practices that drive P&L profit to meet and exceed plan.
- Duties include the ability to work variable schedules that includes some evenings and weekends.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expert understanding of Massachusetts UPC (uniform plumbing code)
- Expert Understanding of IPC (International plumbing code)
- Advanced at creating, documenting, and managing plumbing projects
- Must be very familiar with commercial plumbing; specifically, gas lines, pipe fitting, identifying and sizing of internal grease traps, and possesses or is willing to obtain a backflow preventer certification.
- Ability to manage emergency after hours response and support as needed.
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proven influencing and reasoning skills.
- Able to manage dotted line relationships.
- Effective interpersonal skills with direct reports, peers and supervisors/leaders.

- Self-starter who executes projects on time and at or below budget

- Understanding and experience in driving a safety culture
- 5 years of commercial experience providing full-service plumbing replacement and repair
Minimum Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Valid Masters Plumbing License (Massachusetts required, additional states preferred but will accept applicants with willingness to obtain)
- 5 years of experience managing a team of plumbers and projects with proven ability to drive profit
- High School Diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree preferred
