Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant works to maintain timely and accurate processing of financial records and ensure compliance with accounting regulations while utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in their day-to-day duties. This position also has primary responsibility for accurate and timely processing of the company’s Accounts Payable activities. Provides professional and flexible customer service to internal and external partners for accurate and timely payments and reports. Must thrive within a fast-paced environment and have a desire for continuous learning and process improvement. As a key member of a small, dynamic team, you will collaborate closely with colleagues, thinking on your feet and applying creative problem-solving to evolving challenges
Primary Position Responsibilities:
- This position manages accounting activities for multiple entities, oversees accounts payable and receivable functions, and provides general administrative support to maintain efficient office operations.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Recording financial transactions, updating the general ledger, and ensuring accuracy of financial data.
- Software: Sage Intacct.
- Financial Reporting: Prepares financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
- Bank Reconciliation: Matching bank statements to company records to identify discrepancies.
- Auditing Support: Assisting with internal and external audits by providing documentation and supporting data.
- Fixed Asset Management: Tracking and maintaining records of company assets.
- Compliance: Staying updated on accounting regulations and ensuring adherence to GAAP standards.
- Responsible for monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations for a timely month end close.
- Assist with the preparation of bank draws.
- Professionally interacts with customers while keeping the company’s culture and initiatives at the forefront of actions and decisions.
- Pursues opportunities for process improvements, including automating manual processes.
- Works with and maintains confidential information in a manner that protects the company and leads by example.
- May assist with other duties or projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience:
- Strong judgment, decision making, critical thinkings skills and initiative to follow through.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail, as well as process improvement initiatives and organizational details.
- Must be highly motivated and able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment.
- An understanding of database concepts and reporting.
- Strong foundation of internal controls preferred.
- Ability to create, read and analyze reports, processes and documents.
- Communicate both orally and in writing at a commensurate level with successful job performance.
- Strong work ethic and initiative is a must.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in an Accounting and Finance role with general understanding of computerized billing software and general accounting functions.
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel for creation, generation and analysis of reports, an intermediate level of understanding is preferred.
- Strong computer skills and literacy; Microsoft Office, databases, etc.
- Working knowledge of Intacct accounting software.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Two-to-four-year degree in accounting, finance or related subject or equivalent training and experience.
Physical & Safety Requirements:
- The functions of this role are typically completed in an office environment with low to moderate noise level and physical activity.
- Frequently sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequent use of keyboards, calculators/10 key, monitors and computers.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally drive personal vehicle to conduct business errands.
