Communications Technician

a.i. solutions is looking for a highly motivated Communications Technician with a passion for aerospace to join our team supporting the NASA Launch Services Program at the Kennedy Space Center. The candidate will work in a team environment as an active member of the Communications and Telemetry team supporting operations and maintenance at Hangar AE on Cape Canaveral. The Communications Technician will directly support all communication systems (voice, video, & networks) within the Communications and Telemetry branch located in Hangar AE.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission and work to continually exceed the expectations of our customers.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

• Apply technical knowledge to perform assigned tasks following instructions
• Candidate should be able to assist in relocating, modifying, and/or expand existing facility infrastructure according to engineering drawings or instructions from responsible system engineer.
• Assist in operating and maintaining communications equipment, including those utilizing fiber optic and network connections.
• Assist in the installing, testing, troubleshooting, programing, maintaining, and repairing digital switching and display equipment, data consoles, CCTV systems, miscellaneous telephone and computer data circuits and related apparatus.
• Provide operational support of spacecraft and vehicle processing, including operation of voice network switches, data circuits, recorders and computer generated telemetry display systems.
• Perform such tasks as equipment maintenance, component level repair of faulty circuits, documentation of test readings and calibrations and the utilization of common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, semiconductor testers and oscilloscopes.
• Adhere to all applicable Operating Instructions (OIs) and perform all assigned Periodic Maintenance Instructions (PMIs) and assigned tech tasks.
• Ability to maintain /update manual and/or computerized central office records, including action items, task status, configuration drawings and spare parts inventories.
• Operate assigned equipment or stations in support of launches, provide standby support, and perform routine operational checks
• May perform systems or equipment validation and buy-off and provide technical assistance in direct support of engineering, government contractor agents and/or representatives.
• Assists or may install equipment, systems, or sub-systems as needed to gather required data and may install, either temporarily or permanently, such equipment or devices as needed to test and evaluate systems performance.
• May obtain equipment and supplies; prepare work areas, and assists higher-rated technical or engineering personnel in the performance of their duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

• U.S. citizenship
• Obtain successful completion of a government background check
• High School Diploma
• 0-3 years of technician experience in telecommunications field
• Ability to demonstrate mechanical/electrical aptitude
• Understanding of MS Office application suite

Desired Background:

• Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Electronics
