A family-owned firm and leader in funeral service serving metro Detroit through three locations in Troy and Royal Oak, seeks a part-time funeral service associate who is committed to exceeding expectations while being engaged, dynamic and able to excel in all aspects of funeral service.
Salary commensurate with experience.
A Funeral Service Associate handles the following duties :
- Assisting grieving families while showing continual care and concern
- Answering phones
- Greeting and directing visitors
- Transporting deceased to and from funeral homes as directed
- Preparing space for and attending to funeral services
- Supporting and assisting funeral directors to insure the highest quality, most professional, most ethical service
- Monitoring parking lot activities; prepared to direct traffic
- Efficiently planning driving routes and arriving at destinations as scheduled
A successful candidate must :
- Possess and display an understanding of the funeral profession
- Have a pleasant and responsive phone manner
- Have adaptive / team player attitude
- Have professional self-presentation
- Be resourceful and able to multi-task
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Be able to lift and move up to 60 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently
- Be able to carefully lift and move deceased individuals
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of professional experience
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have an insurable driving record
This is a part time position, typically 10-15 hours weekly with a varying schedule consisting mostly of evenings and weekends.
An applicant needs availability Monday thru Friday from 5 : 00pm-9 : 30pm and on weekends from 8 : 00am-9 : 00pm.
Qualified candidates must have strong communication skills and the tact and ability to perform in dynamic and sometimes stressful conditions.
Standing and lifting are required.
