Analytical Laboratory Technician wanted for a full-time position based in Long Beach, CA. This position will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and experiments to support a high throughput solid fuels analytical laboratory.

Raw material handling and analyses are performed primarily utilizing ASTM standard methods and practices.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift 35 pounds
- Ability to stand during extended periods
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Outlook & Excel)
- Ability to process standard mathematical calculations
- Ability to work in a high-productivity processing environment
- Must have the ability to be flexible while simultaneously handling multiple tasks in a safe, accurate, efficient and professional manner
- Minimum AA/AS Degree in Science
- Minimum 2 years experience in an Analytical Laboratory
- ICP experience a huge plus
- ISO 17025 or ISO 9001 experience
Duties:
- Ensures all material transported from the field to the lab is accurately documented
- Visually inspects all material being processed for contamination and/or foreign matter
- Solves problems by examining and evaluating data
- Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment records
- Assures work quality and quantity by requiring strict adherence to methods and procedures
- Measurement, blending, and processing of raw materials
- Monitor and adjust production processes and inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications
- Use of database or LIMS system to record data associated with operating equipment
- Maintain inventory of materials and track batch or lot number to the finished product by computer data entry
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Adapts methods and procedures to meet the needs of both the employer and customers when necessary
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ensures work area is kept clean and free of hazards at all times
- Adheres to direction and collaborates with both team members and office personnel
- The technician is also expected to prepare analytical samples from raw material for commodities, such as, Green Petroleum Coke, Calcined Petroleum Coke, Fluid Petroleum Coke, Coal, Prilled Sulfur, and Biomass.
- Typical laboratory equipment and instrumentation used: grinding mills, pulverizers, sieve shakers, Hardgrove Grindability, Eltra sulfur analyzer, Leco sulfur, CHN, TGA, and calorimeter analyzers, and ICP
