Job Summary:
A & K Construction, a prominent commercial design-build firm, is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Laborer to join our construction team. The Laborer will assist with various tasks on construction sites, supporting the completion of projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the setup and cleanup of construction sites, including loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment.
2. Perform general construction tasks, such as digging trenches, moving materials, and operating hand and power tools under the direction of supervisors.
3. Assist other skilled tradespeople with their tasks as needed.
4. Help maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that debris and waste are properly disposed of and recycling procedures are followed.
5. Follow all safety protocols and regulations on construction sites, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety meetings and training sessions.
6. Assist in the assembly and installation of temporary structures, scaffolding, and safety barriers as required.
7. Perform basic maintenance tasks on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
8. Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers, reporting any issues or concerns promptly.
9. Adapt to changing work conditions and priorities, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills.
10. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred but not required.
3. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
4. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, with the ability to use them safely and effectively.
5. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions closely.
6. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
7. Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
8. Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
9. Ability to operate heavy equipment is a plus.
10. OSHA 10-hour certification (preferred).
11. Valid driver's license.
