What are the responsibilities and job description for the SolidWorks CAD Designer position at A&K Railroad Materials, Inc.?
Description
Are you a creative problem-solver with a passion for design? A&K Railroad Materials Inc., a leader in the rail manufacturing industry for over 65 years, is searching for a skilled CAD Technician to join our team in Kansas City, Kansas. If you're someone with a strong background in AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience, and you thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you!
As a CAD Technician, you will play a key role in our engineering department, focusing on the creation, maintenance, and modification of design plan drawings tailored to the railroad industry, particularly in special trackwork products. Your day-to-day will involve working closely with engineers, project managers, and technicians, ensuring that every design meets both client expectations and our stringent quality standards. We value teamwork, but you'll also have the opportunity to work independently on projects, allowing your expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience to shine.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with either an Associate of Science in Drafting, Technical School certification, or a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience in lieu of formal education.
To excel in this role, you must possess AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience, have a keen eye for detail, and be comfortable working with mathematical concepts like algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Your ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings is crucial.
In this role, the CAD Technician will transform ideas into detailed design plans by generating surface and solid CAD models and drawings for clients, manufacturing, and suppliers. You'll gather information from diverse sources such as engineering standards, survey data, and customer descriptions, translating them into comprehensive design plans. Your communication skills will be essential as you assist engineers and project managers in verifying design details and ensuring alignment with company standards.
At A&K Railroad Materials, we are proud of our team-oriented and progressive culture. We deliver what matters, and our teams are built on values of hard work, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Our work schedule is consistent, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, allowing for a great work-life balance. Plus, we offer a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, PTO, holiday pay, and tuition reimbursement.
Ready to take your AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience to the next level? We invite you to apply today and join a company that’s not just growing but thriving! Our quick and easy application process takes just three minutes, and we promise to be in touch within 24-48 hours.
