Qualifications:

 

Education:

 

Georgia Educational Leadership certification required.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience required.
  • Demonstrated administrative experience preferred.

 

Essential Functions:

Assist the principal in leading, directing, analyzing and monitoring all core processes and results of the school in order to create action plans designed to improve student achievement, and to promote a culture and maintain an environment which is safe and conducive to learning.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

Instructional Leadership

Assist principal in fostering the success of all students through continuous school improvement by:

  1. Developing, communicating, implementing, and evaluating  a shared vision of teaching and learning;
  2. Analyzing achievement data and instructional strategies to make appropriate educational staffing and curriculum decisions;
  3. Creating and implementing schedules and procedures that maximize instructional time; and
  4. Providing developmental feedback and focus for staff professional learning.

School Climate

Assist principal in promoting the success of all students by developing, advocating and sustaining an academically rigorous, positive, and safe school climate for all stakeholders by:

  1. Modeling and collaboratively promoting high expectations, mutual respect, concern and empathy for students, staff, parents, and community;
  2. Developing, communicating, and implementing best practices in school-wide behavior management; and
  3. Maintaining a collaborative environment that supports the staff.

Planning and Assessment

Assist principal in gathering, analyzing, and using a variety of data to inform planning and decision-making consistent with established guidelines, policies and procedures by:

  1. Working collaboratively to establish performance goals that are consistent with the district’s strategic plan, develop and implement plans to achieve them, and monitor achievement progress.
  2. Collaboratively implementing the school improvement plan that results in increased student learning; and
  3. Monitoring and evaluating the use of diagnostic, formative and summative assessments to provide timely and accurate feedback to students and parents and to inform instructional practices.
  4. Implement state testing program.

Organizational Management

Assist principal in fostering the success of all students by supporting, managing, and overseeing the school’s organization, operation, and use of resources by:

  1. Demonstrating and communicating a working knowledge and understanding of Georgia public education rules, regulations, and laws, and school district policies and procedures;
  2. Establishing and enforcing rules and policies to ensure a safe, secure, efficient and orderly facility and grounds;
  3. Establishing and using accepted procedures to develop short- and long-term goals through effective allocation of resources; and
  4. Identifying potential problems and dealing with them in a timely, consistent, and effective manner.

Human Resources Management

Assist principal in fostering effective human resources management through the selection, induction, support, and retention of quality instructional and support personnel by:

  1.  Supporting formal building-level employee induction processes and mentoring procedures to support and assist all new personnel;
  2. Managing the supervision of staff in accordance with local, state and federal requirements; and
  3. Effectively addressing barriers to teacher and staff performance and providing positive working conditions.

Teacher/Staff Evaluation

Assist principal in providing school personnel with timely and constructive performance feedback and evaluating them in accordance with the state and district guidelines by:

  1.  Providing support, resources, and remediation for teachers and staff to improve job performance;
  2. Conducting and documenting instructional practice observations and providing timely, appropriate developmental feedback to teachers and staff; and;
  3. Involving teachers and staff in the design and implementing of best practices based on evaluation results which improve instructional practice leading to increased student achievement

Professionalism

Assist principal in fostering the success of students by demonstrating professional standards and ethics, engaging in continuous professional development, and contributing to the profession by:

  1. Modeling respect, understanding, sensitivity and appreciation;
  2. Maintaining confidentiality and a positive and forthright manner;
  3. Providing leadership in the sharing ideas and information with staff, colleagues and other professionals;
  4. Working in a collegial and collaborative manner with other leaders, school personnel and other stakeholders to promote and support the vision, mission and goals of the school district; and
  5. Remaining current on research related to educational issues, trends and practices.

Communication and Community Relations

Assists principal in fostering the success of all students by communicating and collaborating effectively with stakeholders by:

  1.  Planning for and soliciting staff, parent and stakeholder input to promote effective decision-making and communication when appropriate;
  2. Collaborating and networking with colleagues and stakeholders to effectively leverage and utilize the resources and expertise available within the school community and in the local community;
  3. Disseminating information to staff, parents and other stakeholders in a timely manner through multiple channels and sources

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

 

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and lead decision-making.
  • Design and implement plans.
  • Apply and maintain knowledge of elementary/secondary curriculum and instructional program.
  • Communicate – verbally and in writing.  

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Dexterity to write on a board, operate a computer, and use other classroom technology.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Clear speech and hearing abilities for effective communication.
  • Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials.

Work Environment:

The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day.
