Job Description
The Life Actuarial Pricing Manager is responsible for overseeing a team and driving the development of life and annuity products. This role requires strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership to ensure product competitiveness, profitability, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, goal setting, and professional development.
- Oversee a specific actuarial function within the life, health, or annuity actuarial division, including planning future activities and presenting recommendations to leadership.
- Ensure work aligns with regulatory requirements and actuarial standards, including maintaining SOA Continuing Professional Development requirements.
- Monitor industry trends and product profitability to maintain a competitive and valuable suite of offerings.
- Lead the product development process, ensuring compliance, competitiveness, and profitability.
- Provide insights and recommendations to executive leadership regarding necessary product changes.
- Collaborate with valuation, underwriting, and other departments to ensure alignment in strategy and execution.
- Foster the development of newer actuaries to build future leadership within the division.
- Manage disaster recovery plans, maintaining up-to-date contact information and communication protocols.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- Extensive experience working with Life and/or Annuity products.
- Strong technical and communication skills.
- Life pricing experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong preference for candidates with proven leadership experience managing direct reports.
Role in the Organization:
As the Life Actuarial Pricing Manager, you will lead a team in the full product development cycle—from concept to implementation. Your expertise will be instrumental in influencing management decisions related to pricing, assumptions, modeling, profitability, underwriting, administration, reinsurance, and risk management. You will also act as a key resource for internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and agents.
Salary : $156,000 - $215,000
