Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Mammography Technician to join our dedicated healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality mammographic procedures on both inpatients and outpatients, following established protocols and maintaining patient safety and comfort at all times. As a Mammography Technician, you will ensure accurate positioning and image quality while adhering to industry standards, including MQSA requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform mammographic procedures on patients according to department protocols.
- Review patient prescriptions, history questionnaires, and medical records prior to examinations to ensure proper imaging.
- Conduct radiologic exams with attention to detail in positioning and technical factors to achieve high-quality images.
- Practice universal precautions and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
- Ensure compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, including verifying patient identity using at least two identifiers.
- Operate and process images using the PAC system, including loading external imaging and ensuring the creation of necessary orders and reports.
- Analyze acquired images for proper positioning, markers, date stickers, and patient identification, repeating the image if necessary.
- Maintain a respectful and supportive relationship with patients, addressing their physical and psychological needs.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
- Assist with interventional procedures and stereotactic biopsies, if trained.
- Perform bone density scans and accurately follow interventional procedures and protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and radiographic equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly report any malfunctions.
- Provide orientation and training for new employees and participate in preceptorship activities.
- Ensure adherence to the ALARA principle for radiation protection.
- Perform Quality Assurance (QA) tasks in compliance with MQSA guidelines.
- Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and professional responsibility.
