Operator 3, Packaging Operations
Location: Sparks, MD
Pay Rate: $20.43
Shift Hours: 10:15 PM - 6:15 AM, Monday - Friday
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Operator 3, Packaging Operations to join our team in Sparks, MD. The ideal candidate will have experience operating and maintaining packaging equipment, working in a manufacturing environment, and adhering to safety and quality procedures.
IMPORTANT:
- Must be clean-shaven to comply with OSHA respiratory fit test requirements.
- Respirator use required daily.
- Must complete all required forms before starting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, assemble, and disassemble packaging equipment for production and cleaning.
- Transport materials using manual and motorized pallet jacks/walkies.
- Package final products into designated containers per Standard Manufacturing Procedures (SMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Maintain accurate production records and logs following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Set up, operate, and clean production equipment, including weighing scales, hand-filling equipment, Integrated Fill Lines (IFL), and bagging machines (SpeeDee & All-Fills).
- Monitor meters, gauges, and process parameters such as temperature, humidity, and RPMs.
- Ensure final product weight tolerance aligns with IMW A163 specifications.
- Troubleshoot, plan, and resolve issues related to setup, operations, and processes.
- Follow all BD and DCM safety policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as required to support operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing, packaging, and/or warehouse environment.
- Heavy lifting required:
- 1-5 lbs. (70% of shift)
- 5-25 lbs. (30% of shift)
- Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs 50% - 95% of the workday.
- Must pass a physical exam for forklift operations and respirator fit test.
Work Environment & Safety Requirements:
- Dusty environment requiring routine use of N95 respirators.
- Mandatory use of safety equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respirators, and hearing protection as needed.
- Frequent use of respirators and PAPR (Powered Air-Purifying Respirators) required for specific products.
- Forklift experience is highly beneficial.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed to meet business demands.
