Title: Sr. Ab Initio Developer
Location: Jacksonville, FL (Hybrid)
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 8:00AM – 5:00PM EST
Note: This is a W2 contract role – C2C and 3rd party candidates will NOT be considered
The Sr. Ab Initio Developer is responsible for the development, programming, and coding of Information Technology solutions. Sr. Developers are responsible for documenting detailed system specifications, participating in unit testing and maintenance of planned and unplanned internally developed applications, and evaluating and performance testing purchased products. Sr. Developers are responsible for including IT Controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, as well as availability of applications and data processed or output by the application. Sr. Developers are assigned to moderately complex development projects. Ideal Sr. Developers for this role will be well versed in data quality processes and data governance procedures to ensure data is fit for consumption. Job functions include:
- Creating data profiles, writing scripts, and developing workflows to support data quality programs
- Performing data analysis to identify data quality issues for relational and non-relational data sources
- Writing code for moderately complex system designs, writing programs that span platform, and coding and creating Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
- Writing code for enhancing existing programs or developing new programs
- Reviewing code developed by other IT Developers
- Providing input to and driving programming standards
- Providing input into the development of data quality standard rules for data quality dimensions
- Writing detailed technical specifications for subsystems, including Identifying integration points
- Reporting missing elements found in system and functional requirements and explaining the impacts on subsystems to team members
- Consulting with other IT Developers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Project Managers, and vendors
- Scoping time and resources required to complete programming projects, seeking review from other IT Developers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, or Project Managers on estimates
- Performing unit testing and debugging; setting test conditions based upon code specifications, receiving assistance from other IT Developers and team members to debug more complex errors, as needed
- Supporting the transition of applications throughout the Product Development Lifecycle; documenting what has to be migrated
- Researching vendor products / alternatives, and conducting vendor product gap analysis / comparison
Job Qualifications:
- 5 years of related IT development and coding professional experience
- Direct, hands-on experience with Ab Initio, SQL, and Unix Scripting to support ELT development in RDBMS
- Experience collaborating effectively with vendors and business partners for solution delivery
- Experience with ETL development tools (i.e. Informatica, Mulesoft, Talend, Datastage, SSIS)
- Experience with testing methodologies with stated major development language(s)/technology
- Strong relationship management and collaboration skills to facilitate effective working relationships with varied stakeholders and team members, including vendors
- Ability to manage and/or participate in project work and ensure work is completed on time with high quality
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on understanding overall business issues and determining innovative solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be self-directed, highly organized and adaptable with the ability to effectively multi-task as needed
- Familiarity with current and emerging technologies and the willingness to investigate and suggest new technology to meet business needs.
- Experience with a major relational database management system preferred
- Experience with NoSQL databases preferred
- Experience with Linux Operating Systems preferred
- Experience with RHEL preferred
- Knowledge of messaging engines preferred
- Experience with RESTful services and JSON preferred
- Experience with Cloud technologies preferred
- Development experience using Pyspark and Stored Procedures preferred
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field, or equivalent work experience required
