Job Summary
This position functions as a licensed registered nurse and advanced practice provider to deliver comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultation, while promoting patient health. The NP-AC role supports both inpatient and outpatient care environments, adhering to the Nurse Practice Act of Texas. The role involves collaborating with a treatment team, offering patient education, conducting physical assessments, prescribing medications, and contributing to overall patient well-being.
Primary Responsibilities
People (25%)
- Act as a clinical resource, consultant, and patient advocate.
- Provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.
- Serve as a preceptor for students and residents, as applicable.
- Promote healthy communication and teamwork within the healthcare environment.
Service (20%)
- Coordinate and deliver timely patient care under physician supervision for defined patient populations.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and participate in rounds as needed.
Quality/Safety (30%)
- Lead and participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Conduct health assessments, initiate interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
- Perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures based on licensure and credentials.
Finance (15%)
- Contribute to achieving financial targets through efficient care documentation and resource utilization.
- Support departmental financial planning and capital resource management.
Growth/Innovation (10%)
- Integrate evidence-based practices into patient care and lead performance improvement initiatives.
- Participate in research, presentations, and publications, fostering continuous learning.
Education Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of two years as a registered nurse or nurse practitioner in a clinical setting.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
- Texas RN license (or temporary TX RN license, permanent license required within 90 days).
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Texas.
- National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
- American Heart Association BLS and ACLS (depending on department).
- Prescriptive authority privileges and DEA registration (within six months of hire).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in time management and critical thinking.
- Demonstrates the ability to function independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in English for patient and team communication.
Supplemental Information
- Uniform/Scrubs required.
- On-call responsibilities may apply.
- Travel may be required within the Houston metropolitan area.
