Job Summary:
The Equipment Transport and Rigging Specialist is responsible for driving a semi-trailer to haul high-reach fork trucks to customer sites across Illinois. At each site, the specialist will safely rig and load equipment onto truck trailers. This role requires close collaboration with company drivers to ensure secure transport and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Drive a semi-trailer to transport high-reach fork trucks to customer sites across Missouri and Illinois.
- Safely rig and load equipment onto truck trailers at customer sites, ensuring secure placement and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with drivers to streamline loading tasks, optimize operational efficiency, and secure equipment for transit.
- Report to the project manager to align with project timelines, objectives, and safety protocols.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and safety checks on semi-trucks, trailers, and material handlers to ensure readiness for operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project and operational needs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Skilled in operating telehandlers, rigging equipment, and material handlers.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently with attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of safety protocols in loading, rigging, and transportation.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must hold a valid Class A Driver License (CDL).
- Previous experience in electrical equipment handling or rigging preferred.
- Prior experience operating semi-trucks, material handlers, and heavy machinery required.
- Certifications in rigging or equipment operation are a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, and working in confined or elevated spaces as needed.
- Manual dexterity is required to operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to travel regularly for work, Monday through Friday, to customer sites throughout Illinois.
- Must be able to work some Saturdays and overtime when needed to meet project timelines.
- Must be able to work outside and be exposed to all weather elements, including extreme heat, wind, rain, snow, and freezing temperatures.
- Must be able to work in conditions that are exposed to loud noise, heavy vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and around hazardous and/or non-hazardous materials.
