About the Position
What We are Looking for:
We are seeking an experienced Principal Data Architect with background in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance to join the A-MAX Data team. The individual will be responsible for data architecture and engineering experience in areas such as data ingestion, transformation, analytics, platform management, data security, and AI/ML.
As the Principal Data Architect, you will play a crucial role in establishing consistent standards and best practices across architecture disciplines to support A-MAX’s data platform. You will provide thought leadership to data engineering teams. offering guidance, reviews, and approvals to support business initiatives. Your role will require strong knowledge of various architectural models, technical disciplines, and industry best practices.
This is a hybrid role in the Dallas, TX area.
Responsibilities: What You Will Do:
- Data Architecture & Design: Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document reporting and analytical requirements, creating design documents including process flows to support A-MAX's operational needs.
- Data Solution Development: Leverage your deep understanding of data architecture and modeling to work closely with data engineers in the development of data solutions, preferably within the AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Project Management: Lead and manage complex projects, prioritizing tasks and ensuring deadlines are met. Utilize Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira to manage workflows effectively.
- Business and IT Collaboration: Partner with business and data platform teams to explore innovative solutions that can improve business outcomes with measurable value.
- Data Quality & Optimization: Identify and drive opportunities to improve existing data sets and ensure high-quality data through continuous analysis and refinement.
- Data Awareness & Training: Educate users on the data ecosystem and increase data awareness across both business and IT teams.
- Requirements Communication: Clearly communicate both technical and non-technical requirements to ensure alignment between business and technical teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with IT, data, vendor partners, and business teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data requirements.
- Business Process Expertise: Gain expertise in business processes and application usage to propose data-driven solutions for business challenges.
- Data Governance: Ensure data strategies align with legal and business standards by adhering to best practices in data governance.
- Hands-On Technical Expertise: Apply hands-on experience with data science, AI solutions, SQL, data warehousing, ETL processes, and PySpark to design and deploy innovative solutions.
Position Qualifications: What You Have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative disciplines.
- Professional Experience: 5-7 years of proven experience as a Data Architect, with a strong background in modern data storage, messaging, and processing tools (SQL, NoSQL, Kafka, Redis) and cloud services (Azure, AWS).
- Cloud Expertise: Experience in designing, developing, and deploying data solutions in AWS or similar cloud environments (AWS certification preferred).
- ML Ops Experience: Proven track record in enabling ML Ops and deploying data science solutions in production environments.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance data, including industry-specific regulations, risk, and compliance requirements.
- Advanced Analytical Skills: Expertise in data querying, dashboard creation, and data visualization using tools such as Excel, Tableau, or similar analysis tools.
- Collaboration & Agile: Demonstrated experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments, with proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and Agile methodologies.
