Position Summary


The IT Technical Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive technical support across the global Meridian environment. This includes end-user support, network troubleshooting, server maintenance, and system optimization to ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Microsoft technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-oriented mindset. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment who can commute one to two days a week to our corporate headquarters in Ballantyne, NC.


Key Responsibilities


End-User Support:

  • Provide frontline technical support to users, addressing hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents with Microsoft Office applications, Windows OS, and other company-specific software.
  • Provide management and support for Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS, and other workstations, tablets, and mobile devices. • Perform user provisioning and access support as necessary.
  • Train end-users on best practices, security guidelines, and new features.

Microsoft Environment Management:

  • Actively participate in managing and maintaining Windows Servers, Active Directory, and Group Policies.
  • Oversee user account administration, permissions, and password management.
  • Ensure seamless deployment and updating of Microsoft patches, hotfixes, and security updates.

Network & Connectivity:

  • Actively participate in monitoring and maintaining local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN) to ensure connectivity and performance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues, including IP conflicts, connectivity drops, and hardware failures.
  • Collaborate with network administrators to optimize and secure network infrastructure.

Server & Storage Support:

  • Support, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers (e.g., Hyper-V).
  • Conduct regular backups and manage recovery processes.
  • Implement security best practices and perform regular audits on server and data storage systems.

IT Infrastructure Projects:

  • Participate in the planning and execution of IT projects, including migrations, upgrades, and new installations.
  • Document IT processes, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

IT Technical Specialist:

  • Create and administer ITSM process and knowledge base articles.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and support new technologies.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and monitor security protocols, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct regular security checks and participate in data privacy audits.
  • Assist in identifying, responding to, and mitigating potential security threats.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in technical support, requirements definition and deployment of infrastructure technology solutions.
  • Able to travel 10-20% to our manufacturing sites and offices.
  • Experience with key technologies (i.e. Windows, networking, Microsoft 365, VoIP, etc.) and working in a hybrid (on-prem and cloud-based) infrastructure environment.
  • Able to work effectively with stakeholders and project team members across business units and service provider organizations. • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting. A certification or equivalent is desired.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, including Hyper-V or VMware.
  • Knowledge of security principles and experience with firewalls, antivirus, multi-factor authentication, and backup solutions.
  • Strong service delivery and customer support with experience using ITSM solutions. Freshservice knowledge is a plus.

Information & Compensation & Benefits


Location: Charlotte, NC


Pay: This position has a salary range of $90,000 – 100,000.00. The above range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic location.


Bonus Pay: Meridian offers a performance based incentive plan tied to company success. Eligible employees have the opportunity to earn a percentage of their salary, with bonus payments distributed yearly.
