Overview
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Specialist in the Transitional Living Program is responsible for providing life skills development for youth ages 16 to 23 who have experienced homelessness or systems involvement. The Specialist also supports program operations as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the TLP Coordinators by assisting youth with basic needs and life skills development, including transportation and side-by-side coaching.
- Utilize New Day modalities including the Nurtured Heart Approach, the Strengths-Based Model, Positive Youth Development, and Trauma-Informed Care.
- Demonstrate adaptability and proactivity in response to shifting priorities and crises.
- Provide services in a culturally competent and youth friendly manner.
- Plan and lead life skills activities to enhance youths’ skills and personal growth.
- Maintain documentation per program and grant requirements.
- Attend department meetings and trainings as applicable.
- Assist Coordinators and youth with apartment move-in and move-out.
- Work with New Day staff & youths’ supports to ensure clarity, consistency, and safety.
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
- Support the safety and security of youth and the premises.
Qualifications
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be age 23 or older.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field OR High school diploma/GED 1 year’s work experience with youth, the homeless population, and/or youth systems.
- Has reliable passenger vehicle, valid driver’s license, insurance, and good driving record.
- Competency in Microsoft Office suite, internet use, and database use.
- Willing to flex schedule as needed, including in-person emergencies.
- Demonstrates self-reflection, emotional regulation, ability to respond appropriately in crises, and applying new methods and perspectives.
- Understanding of adolescent development and effects of trauma.
- Able to pass a comprehensive background check

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.50 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
