What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifesaving Center Animal Care Manager - Cove position at A New Leash on Life, Inc.?
We are looking for a candidate with a strong desire to save lives and a positive team attitude who truly loves animals! Must enjoy working with dogs, cats, and people of all ages and personalities. Requires at least 2 years experience in animal care and customer service. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a non-traditional work environment and be able to work varied days/hours including nights and weekends. This position has rapid growth potential and reports to Manager of Lifesaving Centers.
Duties will include:
- Ensuring all pets are healthy, happy, and properly cared for by staff and volunteers
- Training staff and volunteers to perform all duties associated with the center.
- Working with shelter intake lead/team to ensure all new pets brought to center from municipal shelters are fitting in well with current pets
- Ensuring environment and all habitats are clean and safe for pets and people
- Working with volunteer transport team to get pets to/from vet appointments and adoption events
- Inventory management of vaccines, food, medicines, and cleaning/other supplies
- Adoption/Foster Counseling: having open, honest discussions with potential adopters and fosters and making adoption/foster decisions
- Detailed record-keeping and ShelterLuv data entry
- After hours and holiday communication (texts and calls) with volunteers and staff is necessary and expected
- Ensure proper tools and efficient processes are in place for staff and volunteers
- Motivation to make continual improvements on lifesaving strategies and procedures
- Familiarity with shelter medicine veterinary protocols is a plus
- Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:
- Working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Standing and walking for long periods of time throughout the day
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Lifting/moving dog/cat food/litter
- Loading and driving large van of dogs and cats to events and appointments
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed
