Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
A New Start Primary Care, LLC is a rural health primary care clinic that recognizes that good mental health is an important component of good physical health and offers both in our practice. We are now seeking an additional dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team. We offer a hybrid remote schedule to allow both remote days and in-office days. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive mental health care to adult patients, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of psychiatric conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to formulate individualized treatment plans
- Prescribe and manage medications for mental health conditions
- Provide therapy and counseling to patients with psychiatric disorders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care
- Monitor and evaluate treatment outcomes, adjusting plans as necessary
- Educate patients and families on mental health issues and treatment options
- Utilize telehealth platforms for virtual consultations when appropriate
- Participate in clinical research projects related to mental health
Requirements:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing
- Current state licensure as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Proficiency in conducting physical examinations and interpreting laboratory results
- Experience in geriatric psychiatry and working with diverse patient populations
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and best practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient care
- Ability to perform procedures such as spinal taps and phlebotomy if required
- Familiarity with medical coding standards for accurate documentation
