Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care within our clinic. You will work alongside skilled technicians, opticians, vision therapists, and three optometrists, making the day varied, but smooth and enjoyable with team collaboration.
Initially, this position will be part time, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with an opportunity to advance to a full time position later in the year.
Duties
As an Optometric Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting patients and ensuring a welcoming environment both in person and on the phone.
- Assisting with patient intake, including collecting and verifying insurance information.
- Conducting preliminary tests such as autorefraction, visual field testing, and Optos digital images.
- Managing patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Supporting optometrists during examinations and procedures.
- Handling medical billing and coding tasks accurately.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the clinic and optical area.
- Training new contact lenses wearers with insertion and removal of lenses and care and handling instructions.
- Educating patients on proper eye care practices and post-examination instructions.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Previous experience in patient care or a clinical setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing and coding is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
