Job Summary
The Field Safety Manager (Inspector) plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within A Plus Tree. This role involves field safety observations, training implementation, equipment management, and active participation in safety initiatives. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong experience in tree work safety, compliance, and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Compliance & Inspections
- Ensure A Plus Tree remains compliant with safety standards.
- Conduct field safety observations with crews using the SafetyNet app.
- Identify and document unsafe observations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Adhere to all City, County, State, and Federal safety guidelines.
- Training & Leadership
- Implement mandated trainings, including CORE, Tailboards, 5-minute meetings, and crew assessments.
- Lead by example in safe and efficient work practices.
- Conduct tailgate safety sessions and ensure crews follow proper safety protocols.
- Train employees on safe work practices and tree work techniques in the field.
- Equipment & Logistics
- Provide crews with necessary safety equipment and ensure proper usage.
- Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting truck and equipment issues.
- Order parts and services from vendors such as Altec, Baileys, and Vermeer RDO.
- Maintain and service company-provided vehicle.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of field inspections, trainings, and compliance activities.
- Participate in weekly conference calls and report on safety observations.
- Track work hours and job progress throughout the day.
- Meet with onsite foresters / arborists to provide estimates and maintain strong client relationships.
Qualifications
- Certifications & Training:
- ISA Certified Arborist (Required)
- Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) and/or Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP) (Preferred)
- OSHA 30 Certification (Required)
- Current CPR & First Aid Certification (Required)
- Experience & Skills:
- Experience in the tree industry, with a strong understanding of safety protocols.
- Ability to use technology, including safety apps and digital reporting tools.
- Class C driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
