A Large-Scale Community Association is seeking a full-time Corporal for our Department of Public Safety. The Public Safety Corporal can make decisions and assist the Sergeant in supervising, developing and directing the activities of his/or her assigned shift. Performing a variety of routine and complex public safety work in the administration of the department. Supervises patrol, traffic regulation, and related activities. Corporals are also responsible for the supervision of the daily patrol of the community in addition to the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Directly engages in assisting the Public Safety Sergeant with training, assignments, inspections and staffing include evaluating shift personnel daily developing and maintaining a team-oriented approach.
- Assist the Sergeant in assuring that all call outs always have staff coverage to ensure compliance with established staffing levels.
- Counsels assigned personnel and reports back to Public Safety Sergeant on inappropriate behaviors or inferior work performance while recommending employees for commendation and discipline as appropriate.
- Delegates responsibilities and balances workload of subordinates as necessary to accomplish department goals.
- Reviews and approves the work and documents, specifically Incident Reports and citations of assigned personnel.
- Participates in the development, implementation and revision to department methods to fulfill established goals in a manner consistent with the mission of the department and Association.
- Patrols the community as part of the shift requirements in the course of amenity checks and protection of Association assets to prevent against any type of loss, accident, injury or safety violation.
- Perform public safety duties, respond to emergency situations, and work voluntary, extended shift or mandatory overtime. Must be able to work closely with all local law enforcement and other emergency responders as needed.
- Creates and maintains a safe environment for conveying information openly, accurately and honestly, creates a common understanding amongst all parties.
- Report any accident, loss, injury or safety violation immediately to management, while providing necessary supervision and control for the department/Association in the absence of the Sergeant, Lieutenant or Chief.
- Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, procedures and policies.
- Enforce the rules and regulations of the community, including but not limited to traffic enforcement under title 75.
