What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis House Counselor position at A Seaside Healthcare Company?
Youth Haven Services crisis stabilization program is growing, and we currently have two part-time weekend openings in our Dove House Crisis Stabilization Home in Rockingham County. Both positions are Saturday and Sunday, twelve-hour shifts: 7am-7pm position or 7pm-7am positions are open. This home serves DSS clients that do not have placements. The main function of the home will be to provide a safe therapeutic environment while a long-term placement can be secured. Crisis House Counselor provides direct care and rehabilitative services for clients in the crisis stabilization residential program. Provides behavioral modification interventions as outlined in their Person-Centered Plan.
Education: High School degree or equivalent.
Work experience: A minimum of two (2) years of documented experience working with the population served is preferred. (Youth/adolescence with mental health diagnosis).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of community resources; communication skills (written and verbal); background/training/experience, competencies in the use of a personal computer (word processing/excel), e-notes, photocopier and fax machine; organizational abilities; prioritization skills; flexibility; ability to multitask; ability to develop productive relationships; ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to develop responsible decisions and exercise sound judgment. Takes direction well and demonstrates initiative.
Travel Requirements: Service is delivered in residential setting
Provide clients with skill building activities such as independent living skills, socialization, adaptation and symptom monitoring / management skills.
Provide therapeutic mentoring, anger management and social skills training. Provide behavioral modifications as approved and outlined in their person-centered plans. Transport clients as needed and necessary.
Complete documentation [on client progress] as outlined by program guidelines as needed on a timely basis. Maintain all other records and complete paperwork as required.
