We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Certification & Compliance Engineering Expert to lead and manage certification, compliance, and homologation activities across our product portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring type approvals and legal document compliance are achieved and maintained throughout the entire product lifecycle in alignment with global regulatory standards and project milestones.
You will serve as a recognized authority and subject matter expert (SME) within the organization, with a strong track record in certification processes and regulatory affairs. This role requires a proven ability to coordinate complex cross-functional efforts, drive continuous improvement in tools and processes, and effectively liaise with global type approval authorities and technical services.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate all certification and compliance deliverables across projects that impact type approvals for components, systems, or vehicles.
- Ensure delivery of legal and regulatory documentation per project plans and throughout product family lifecycles.
- Plan and manage homologation and compliance activities for both new product introductions and product maintenance.
- Serve as the primary contact and negotiator with type approval authorities and technical services, including interpretation and application of legal regulations.
- Provide expert guidance and interpretation on regulated product-related legal matters to internal stakeholders.
- Continuously develop and enhance organizational processes, tools, and methodologies related to certification and compliance.
- Monitor and report on the status of all certification and compliance efforts to internal leadership and external regulatory bodies.
- Act as a coach, mentor, and educator within the organization, sharing expertise and best practices in certification and compliance engineering.
- Contribute to roadmaps and strategic initiatives, aligning certification efforts with broader technical development and business area goals.
- Demonstrate a strong "T-shaped" professional profile by maintaining deep technical expertise while also contributing as a mature generalist across business functions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in certification, compliance, homologation, or regulatory engineering.
- Deep knowledge of global type approval processes, legal documentation, and regulatory frameworks in the automotive or heavy vehicle industry (or applicable sector).
- Proven experience in project leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Recognized subject matter expertise and a natural go-to person for complex compliance issues.
- Demonstrated ability to align technical work with strategic business objectives.
