Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Specialist to join our team. As a Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and processing accounts receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, sending out reconsiderations/appeals and calling on denied claims. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work with numbers effectively.
Duties:
· Process accounts receivable transactions, including invoicing, posting payments, and reconciling discrepancies.
· Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments and follow up with customers to collect outstanding balances.
· Collaborate with other departments to resolve any billing or payment issues.
· Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving any billing disputes or discrepancies.
· Identify and resolve any recurring claim denials/issues.
· Accept patient or insurance company telephone inquiries and assist by providing excellent customer service.
· Assisting coworkers with scheduling appointments when needed
· Contacts insurance companies to follow up on appealed claims. Holds insurance company accountable for timely resolution of all appeals submitted.
· Drafts written letters of appeal on various types of denied claims utilizing standard letters as well as customized letters depending on the denial.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience in posting insurance/patient payments.
· Proficient in basic math skills
· Ability to read, understand, interpret, and resolve payer denials.
· Excellent data entry skills with a high level of accuracy
· Ability to perform 10-key typing efficiently.
· Strong mathematical skills for calculations and reconciliations
· Familiarity with ICD-10 coding is a plus.
· Must have PC basic skills and basic skills on MS Excel, Word, and Outlook (Microsoft office products)
· Ability to research payer regulations and determine appropriate collection action.
· Working knowledge of medical terminology
· Ability to express ideas effectively using oral and written communication.
· Ability to apply time management and organization skills to achieve goals.
· Excellent customer service skills with patients and ability to work with the public.
