Job Overview:
As a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in a psychiatric care environment, you will play a key role in providing direct care to individuals with various medical and behavioral needs. Your responsibilities will include managing medication administration, providing treatment, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and maintaining accurate records. You will also be responsible for performing computer data entry, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, policies, and standards.
Shifts Available:
- 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM shift with rotating weekends
- 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM shift with rotating weekends
Responsibilities:
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitor residents' health, and assist with daily activities.
- Medication Management: Ensure safe and accurate medication administration and provide medication education to patients and staff.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate records of patient care, including medication administration and treatment progress, in compliance with facility policies and HHSC requirements.
- Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to all applicable regulations, including ICF-IDD, client facility policies, and HHSC standards, rules, and directives. Ensure all procedures meet accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Data Entry: Perform computer data entry as required, ensuring accurate and timely updates to patient records.
- Training and Development: Complete required facility training and HHSC-required courses, including immunization requirements, drug testing, fingerprinting, and other necessary certifications.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with doctors, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care for residents.
- Safety and Infection Control: Ensure a clean and safe environment for residents and staff, adhering to infection control protocols and safety procedures.
Requirements:
- Licensure: Valid LVN license
- Compliance: Must comply with HHSC immunization requirements and submit to required drug testing and fingerprinting.
- Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric, developmental, or residential healthcare facility (at least 2 years)
- Training: Must complete all facility and HHSC required training within a designated timeframe.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and team members.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to manage medication administration and patient documentation with precision.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with ICF-IDD regulations, DSSLC policies, and HHSC standards is a plus (training provided).
- Compassionate Care: Ability to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing person-centered care with empathy and respect.
