Description
A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a full-time non-exempt Library Assistant on the Kirksville, Missouri campus.
Major Job Duties
- Assist students and other library patrons with library equipment and services, including opening and closing the library.
- Check in and out library materials, such as books, OTM Tables, projectors, easels, SAAD lamps, and media.
- Provide directional information to patrons, answer incoming calls, transfer calls, or take messages, and assist patrons with accessing databases, the catalog, and the reserve book collection.
- Maintain library equipment such as computers, treadmills, printers, scanners, and photocopy machines
- Check in periodical issues, shelve new periodicals, and move older ones to storage.
- Collaborate with the 3D print service manager to maintain 3D printers and equipment and notify students when their models are ready for pickup.
- Monitor office/kitchen supply inventory.
- Oversee reserve study room reservations using the LibCal system.
- Track petty cash transactions.
- Shift periodicals or books to accommodate new materials.
- Research and update various book lists as assigned, such as reserve books and Wiley e-books.
- Work with staff to arrange social events, such as open houses, graduations, exhibit openings, and coffee/tea for students.
- Work with the Public Service Manager to schedule work-study and library assistants.
- Update the front desk operation manual as needed.
- Assist patrons with printing, faxing, or scanning needs.
- Contact facilities when housekeeping/repairs are required.
- Keep the library in good condition and perform minor repairs to equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma is required, with some college preferred.
- 1-2 years of work experience, with library experience highly desired.
- Familiarity with manipulating files in Excel, Word, Adobe, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of 3D printing is a plus, but we will train.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Well-organized, dependable, flexible, and possessing good interpersonal skills.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Facility with learning technology programs quickly.
- Able to work under minimal supervision.
