Position Title: CDS (Cross Domain Solution) Operator (CDS - System Administrator)
Place of Performance: Biometrics Technology Center (BTC) Facility, FBI Campus Clarksburg, WV 26306
On-site, 24/7 Shift Coverage (0700-2300 operational hours with on-call support)
Job Summary:
The CDS Operator is responsible for the daily operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the Cross Domain Solution (CDS) systems that facilitate the secure transfer of data between classified and unclassified networks. The operator ensures compliance with cybersecurity policies, resolves operational issues, and coordinates with government stakeholders to maintain uninterrupted CDS functionality.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- CDS Operations & Monitoring:
- Operate and monitor CDS systems in real-time to ensure successful data transfers.
- Identify and resolve transfer failures, ensuring compliance with established security protocols.
- Process an average of 30,000 file transfers per day with peak loads exceeding this number.
- Incident Management & Troubleshooting:
- Perform initial troubleshooting and coordinate with cybersecurity and IT teams for resolution.
- Document and escalate CDS-related issues to system administrators as needed.
- Work with the Watch Desk and Interoperability Initiatives Branch (I2B) to maintain system integrity.
- Security & Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with USCYBERCOM and NEC Cybersecurity regulations.
- Participate in annual Cross Domain System Approval (CDSA) documentation preparation.
- Ensure all user accounts, access privileges, and file processing permissions are properly managed.
- Training & Support:
- Assist in training new CDS personnel on operational procedures.
- Provide training to CDS users on file submission processes and security compliance.
- Maintain and update operational documentation and procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education & Experience:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (preferred).
- 2 years of experience in IT operations, cybersecurity, or secure file transfer environments.
- Technical Skills:
- Understanding of cross-domain security solutions and data transfer protocols.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools, security incident response, and log analysis.
- Experience with Windows/Linux server environments and network protocols.
- Proficiency in automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, or scripting (preferred).
- Certifications (Preferred/Required):
- CompTIA Security (Required)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (Preferred)
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) (Preferred)
- ITIL Foundation Certification (Preferred)
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III Certification (Highly Recommended)
Work Schedule & Shift Coverage:
- On-site support between 0700-2300 (Monday - Friday, excluding holidays)
- On-call availability 24/7/365 for urgent incidents
- Rotating shift schedule to ensure operational coverage
