Status: Seasonal OR Part Time (Weekends, some weekdays, holidays)

SUMMARY: The primary focus of the Server is to sell and serve A Taste of Monterey’s food and beverage to our guests, as well as sell wine bottles to-go and sell wine clubs. This involves absorbing a great deal of information and being able to relevantly relate it to each guest. Servers are responsible for creating a positive “Discovery” experience for every guest they encounter. Teamwork, a sense of humor, a strong work ethic and a true enjoyment of wine, people and Monterey County are vital for success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. 1. Working weekends, evenings and most holidays
2. Greet/welcome guests, offer information and suggestions for food and beverage options.
3. Answer questions regarding our offerings, Monterey County Wine County wines, the area, our facility and our products/merchandise
4. Serving food and beverages in a timely and professional manner.
5. Be warm, friendly and attentive to guest needs
6. Sell wine, gifts and club membership
7. At times pour glasses, preparing flights, wash/buff glassware
8. Deliver glasses and/or flights will need to be brought to and taken from the guests’ table as needed
9. Ensuring service bar items are adequately stocked in the bar back, refrigeration and various shelves
10. Handling routine purchasing floor service transactions, including operating cash registers and accounting for daily sales
11. Assisting guests with their requests/needs including extra chairs, water, glasses, napkins, etc.
12. Be warm, friendly and attentive to guest needs Performing facility housekeeping, to include seating areas, service bar, restrooms and break area, daily
13. Serving and attending to guests during A Taste of Monterey group events, familiarization (FAM) tours and special VIPs.
14. Attending scheduled training classes and seminars
15. Completing duties from opening and closing checklists
16. Finding side work to do when slow
17. Occasionally work in other A Taste of Monterey departments or on special projects
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1. Has at least one year of related experience to food/wine service
2. A strong interest in wine.
