What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educational Consultant position at A+ Virtual Learning?
The primary role of the Educational Consultant will be to coach teachers and administrators onsite in schools across the 5 boroughs in NYC in all facets of school improvement (curriculum and instruction, systems and structures, culture and people). The ideal candidate is passionate about working with teachers and leaders in NYC and understands the nuances around coaching and supporting school personnel.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years teaching, with a preference given to those who have worked in NYC schools, or other comparable large urban districts, with large special populations.
- Prior positions in district or building admin such as coach, AP, principal, or district leader strongly preferred
- Experience teaching and/or coaching teachers/leaders in all facets of school improvement
- Strong content knowledge in ELA and Math NGLS Standards and knowledge of core programs used in NYC
- Experience facilitating teacher teams / groups to achieve student outcomes.
- Dynamic presenter, comfortable engaging large groups of educators in professional workshops and smaller work sessions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to motivate and lead others at all levels within a school.
- Self-starter and self-motivator who thrives in independent work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop customized instructional coaching plans for teachers and leaders based on needs identified through a structured needs assessment process.
- Coach teachers and leaders within coaching cycles which focus on specific and targeted goals.
- Differentiates learning for different school personnel and can meaningfully engage all stakeholders at all levels.
- Facilitate teacher teams reflecting on practice, analyzing data that leads to deep analysis and identification of inequitable practices in schools, and looking at student work toward the goal of improving pedagogical practices and student outcomes.
- Guide school leaders in making critical changes to systems, structures, and communication in their school, leading to an environment where professional collaboration is embraced, and student success is the focus.
- Build trusting relationships with partners that meet educators where they are and empower them to continue to grow in their profession.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday- must be able to work a minimum of three days per week
- Availability during school hours (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
- Regional NYC travel will be required

- A flat rate of $500 daily is given.
