Responsibilities
- Lead a team of pipe fitters, plumbers, welders, and apprentices in the execution of mechanical work safely and efficiently;
- Ensure all site safety work permits are acknowledged and adhered to;
- Coordinate interface between project management and site operation participants;
- Oversee and coordinate Sub-Contractors' work;
- Confirm design intent with architectural, engineering, and consultants;
- Coordinate field trade activities and develop three-week look-ahead coordination schedules;
- Attend weekly coordination meetings with Project Manager and/or Project Engineer;
- Coordinate equipment and specialty material deliveries;
- Assist with coordination and scheduled shut-downs;
- Support constructability and value management analysis;
- Assess trade contractor earned value status;
- Maintain project as-built documentation and site coordination drawings;
- Establish work completion and punch lists;
- Ensure field installation compliance with technical specifications;
- Support interface with Client Representatives;
- Complete associated Superintendent project control requirements;
- Support field investigation analysis for claim / issue resolution practices;
- Support field close-out, commissioning, and validation requirements;
- Insure necessary equipment and materials are available to support the field team;
- Supervise and participate in installations of various piping systems;
- Work with materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, plastics, fiberglass, copper;
- Perform layout and develop isometric drawings for piping systems;
- Understand constructability requirements for installing pre-fabricated piping systems;
- Measure, cut, thread or bend pipe using hand or power tools;
- Test pipes or fixtures for leaks;
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering or brazing equipment;
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances or fixtures;
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors;
- Direct helpers or apprentices in appropriate tasks;
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, plans or specifications;
