Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients in various settings, including outpatient clinics, medical-surgical units, and geriatrics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of patient care principles and have experience in environments such as teaching hospitals or Level II Trauma Centers.
Duties
- Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Support mobility by helping patients move safely within their environment.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, enhancing their quality of life.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by following infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement care plans effectively.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices in patient care.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to emergency medicine, geriatrics, outpatient services, and surgical procedures is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as PICU or Level II Trauma Centers.
- Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with patients and their families.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting or assisting patients.
- A commitment to providing high-quality care while adhering to safety protocols.
- Certification or training in CPR and first aid is a plus.
