A123 Systems, LLC is hiring a Sr. Program Manager to join the Novi, MI team.
The Senior Program Manager is responsible for defining and managing the technical, timing and budget of multiple projects while being the primary interface between customer and the internal engineering and management teams for manufacture of lithium batteries. The Senior Program Manager reports to the Director of Program Management.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage global production programs and coordinate activities within international teams.
- Own customer communication for all program related topics as main point of contact.
- Manage all internal and/or external customer deliverables.
- Provide leadership to a matrixed, cross-functional team.
- Manage program budget and support piece price targets.
- Document and track compliance to customer’s technical, commercial and regulatory requirements along with developing solutions to address any/all identified gaps.
- Develop and maintain primary project timelines.
- Provide regular project status reports to customer as well as internal senior management.
- Co-lead development, sourcing and management of key suppliers.
- Drive towards rapid identification and resolution of any and all engineering related performance, cost, and timing issues, regardless of where the issue originates (customer, engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply base, etc.
- Provide support to internal sales within an international organization for development of labor, material, production cost, and profit margin.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, plus 5 years of experience with program management.
- PMP Certification
- 2 years of experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- 2 years of manufacturing and plant experience, practicing 6M methodology for innovative product groups.
- Experience/awareness of EDI system to assist proper production planning and management reporting.
- Demonstrated ability working within an international organization supporting/developing/calculating program labor, material and production costs and profit margin.
- Demonstrated ability launching new programs in the high-tech material segment utilizing Production Part Approval Process Standards (PPAP) and ERP/SAP systems.
- Demonstrated proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
