Key Responsibilities:
- Research and develop new manufacturing technologies and production process improvements.
- Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) efforts for both new and existing programs.
- Develop manufacturing procedures, operation sequencing, and detailed work instructions for complex machined parts and sub-assemblies.
- Program and prove out CNC machining programs (Siemens NX is preferred), ensuring efficient and effective production.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance existing production efforts.
- Establish and update time standards, man-to-machine ratios, and economic run quantities for components.
- Provide cost estimates for new business capture and process improvements.
- Lead capital equipment evaluations, justifications, purchases, and implementations.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, quality teams, and external suppliers to solve process-related challenges and mentor others.
- Take ownership of dedicated manufacturing cells, ensuring process stability and automation efficiency.
- Manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously, focusing on automation and lean manufacturing.
- Some domestic and international travel (approx. 5% or two weeks per year).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in complex milled parts.
- 5 years of hands-on machining experience.
- CAD/CAM CNC programming experience (Siemens NX preferred), with fluency in G&M Code programming.
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, workholding techniques, and automation tooling.
- Expertise in 5-axis CNC machining.
- Experience machining various aerospace materials (Aluminum, Titanium, Stainless Steel, etc.).
- Ability to drive automation and advanced manufacturing processes.
- Strong leadership skills with a Lean Manufacturing mindset (Lean Belt certification is a plus).
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and process standardization.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management software (MS Project is a plus).
