What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Assembly Technician position at AA Anderson & CO INC?
The Mechanical Assembly Technician, reporting directly to the Warehouse and Production Manager, is directly responsible for building pumps, pump assemblies and fluid process equipment specific to Customer needs. Will need to work from drawings, schematics, and manuals to build the equipment. Knowledge of electrical motors, wiring, and controls would be a benefit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Receive new pump orders, determine building needs, pull parts from stock, build equipment, test for effectiveness, and document as required.
• Assembly fluid process equipment including but not limited to; performing coupling alignments, bolting together flanged pipe connections, and threading together NPT pipe connections.
• Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, schematics, and other written instructions and diagrams to perform tasks.
• Work with Application Engineers, Project Managers, and/or Mechanical Designers to recommend changes to design for manufacturability, for improved methods and efficiencies.
• Fit and assemble components according to documentation or manufacture recommendations.
• Use computer to look up Customers, research parts, diagram, schematic, and manuals online.
• Follow all safety guidelines of the company.
• Help maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills/Experience
Required:
• Outstanding, demonstrable mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with precision measuring tools including tape measures and calipers and ability to pass aptitude test.
• Detail-oriented with solid math skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proven ability to successfully troubleshoot.
• Valid driver’s license with a record that allows you to be covered by company insurance.
• At least 3 years of mechanical assembly experience.
Preferred:
• Industrial pumping systems knowledge/experience.
• Experience with machining tools (lathe, brake press, Bridgeport, etc.)
• Knowledge of welding and metal fabrication.
• Solid electrical knowledge of controls, circuitry, schematics, VFD’s.
• Hydraulic equipment maintenance or repair experience.
• Associates degree or trade school certificate in related field.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
• Ability to stand or walk for up to 90% of the day.
• Ability to twist and turn at least 25% of the day.
• Stoop and bend at least 25% of the day.
• Ability to reach above shoulders at least 25% of day.
• Repetitive hand and wrist movements at least 50% of the day.
• Forearm rotation at least 25% of the day.
