The Director, Financial Reporting and Planning will direct and oversee all internal and external financial reporting functions, ensuring accurate preparation and filing of statutory reports, the Annual Report, and other governmental reports per the GAAP requirements. This role involves consulting with business line leaders to provide complex consolidated financial reports for the Board of Directors, external auditors, and executive management while collaborating with senior financial management on the impact of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The Director will also oversee the annual budget, forecasting, audit processes, and key metrics reporting, ensuring full compliance and accuracy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Consult with department and business line leaders to provide complex consolidated financial reports for use by the Board of Directors, external auditors, and executive management. Ensures departmental accounting reflects accurate financial performance.
- Collaborates with senior financial management on the impact of new accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory standards on existing and new transactions.
- Oversees and coordinates the annual budget, forecasting, audit processes, and related analytical and system functions. Develops financial targets for the upcoming budget year.
- Assesses trends and strategic plans and develops financial targets that build the foundation for the upcoming budget year.
- Oversees and reports on key metrics on overall association-level health and monitors current association trends.
- Discusses and negotiates financial solutions and settlements with outside partners, participating in mediation as needed.
- Ensures optimum use of accounting software systems and continual process improvement in partnership with the Accounting Operations Director.
- Performs routine analysis of work-in-process accounts ensuring accuracy and reasonableness of balances and reports.
- Manages a team of Associates responsible for cost accounting and financial reporting, analysis, and compliance to include work output, performance, and conduct in alignment with AAA’s ethical standards.
- Provides feedback, coaching, and mentorship to promote growth and development and a positive work culture.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar related field of study.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in managing financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, payroll, or a related area of expertise is required.
- Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- CPA (active or inactive) required.
- $109,700 - $138,220
- This position is eligible for participation in the AAA, Inc. Annual Incentive Plan.
